Mermaid and Retro Vibes: Spring Swim with Lane Bryant
Last week was the first day of Spring... or so they said. Meanwhile, my Uggs are still near the door and my worn-in hoodie is my go-to when I walk in the house. So when Lane Bryant reached out to me to share some of their brand new swimwear for the season, I was READY to go! While I love the curled up and cozy feeling of a chilly day, the freedom of skipping on the beach in the perfect bathing suit is ALWAYS welcome! In this #sponsored post, I'm sharing two of my favorite picks from their Spring swimsuit line-up, dishing about the fit, and what you need to know!Disclaimer. Lane Bryant asked me to pick my favorite swimsuit... I picked two. They asked me to share pics of one suit, but I liked both so much I am sharing them anyway. LOL. If you have followed me for awhile, you know I have been a long time shopper at Lane Bryant. Every year I put their swimwear to the test!
BADASS SUIT #1: IRIDESCENT SHIMMER SWIM BIKINI
Confession. I fell in love with this fabric the absolute minute I saw it. In fact, what I screamed, quite literally out loud, was "OHMYGOSHIWANTTOBEAFATMERMAID!!" So this was my big mermaid moment!Iridescent Shimmer Longline Bikini Top with Plunge Bra I am wearing a size 40D. I normally wear a 40DD in bras. I sized down a bit in the cup because, often times, bathing suit cups are too big for me. If I were to order this again I would definitely order the same size as I would wear in bras. The back doesn't fully open - which can make it a bit hard to wiggle into BUT creates a smooth look over the body as well.Iridescent Shimmer Strappy-Side Swim Brief I am wearing a 20 here. I normally wear an 18/20 these days, and in Lane Bryant jeans I wear a 20. I found these bottoms very true to size. My one detail to note is that they do not come up as high on my waist as they do in the picture on the website. These are not high-rise bottoms.Note: If you like the shimmer look but want a one-piece, Lane Bryant also makes a one-piece version of this suit. It's got some super 70's chic vibes and I totally dig it! You can find it online here.
BADASS SUIT #2: FLAMINGO MID-RISE BIKINI
I have never gravitated towards the vintage and retro-looking styles, but when I saw this flamingo print, I knew I had to have it. So flirty. So fresh. So playful! It screamed "top knot and bright lipstick" to me!Flamingo Flounce Bikini Top This top is literally one of the cutest things I have ever seen! The double straps are an unexpected detail and the peplum flounce is playful and super-feminine. I am wearing a size 40D here and I would DEFINITELY take a larger cup if I were to order again. I might even go up a band size as well.Flamingo Mid-Rise Swim Brief offers no fit surprises. As mentioned above, I normally wear an 18/20 these days and a 20 in Lane Bryant jeans. These bottoms are a size 20 and fit exactly as I imagine they would. They aren't a high rise, so depending on your torso and rise, they may hit you higher or lower. They have a nice power mesh to them and they feel secure and comfortable. I am insanely loving this flamingo print. I wish Lane Bryant would do more in it! For those who love the print but want something with a bit more coverage, Lane Bryant does make a blouson version of the top. You can find that linked here.Lane Bryant offers reliable, well-made, and figure-flattering swimwear. Unlike other retailers offering trendy styles at (staggeringly) low prices, suits from Lane Bryant will last you many years - no disposable swimwear here! Snag a suit this season and it will last you for years to come. Styles are well-suited for average-to-tall bodies, and the ones I have tried would work great for figures that are curvy and for those that would appreciate more shape-definition.What do you think of these looks? Would you wear either this Spring swim season? Thank you to Lane Bryant for sharing these looks with me! For the full plus size bathing suit Spring swim collection, visit their website here. Thank you to Lane Bryant for this opportunity. While this post was sponsored, the viewpoints expressed were entirely my own!
