Viva Las… Hamptons? I Test Drive my Inner Preppy Style with Tommy Hilfiger Plus Size from Macy’s
#Sponsored Let’s begin this with a few simple truths. First, I am a child of the 90’s. Second, I consider my default go-to style to be decidedly bohemian; comfortable boho with a side of cowboy boots. Third, when it comes to beach-culture of choice, I’m West coast -vs- East coast, all the way. So when I partnered up with Macy’s to showcase Tommy Hilfiger Plus Size fashions, I was ready (and excited) for the style challenge. Bring on the preppy! As a native New Yorker, Macy’s has always been a bit of a religion in my family. The 34th street flagship store was a mecca for my mom and, and as I have gotten older, I find myself turning to their website to snag the styles I can wear in my everyday life. Tommy Hilfiger is a fashion staple at Macy’s. Men’s, Women’s, Plus size – it’s pretty much a given that Tommy Hilfiger can outfit you and every person you know. The last time I really pondered Tommy Hilfiger, it was when Destiny’s Child looked like this… Without even perusing the styles online, I knew I would find a selection of classic cuts, feminine silhouettes, and freshly clean style. Nothing too trend-oriented, lines and looks that you can wear for years to come… and plenty of blue and white. And I was right. Tommy Hilfiger Plus Size exclusively for Macy’s delivers exactly what I knew it would. Timeless looks in fresh, northeast, Hamptons-esque style.I chose three pieces; each one a style departure from my usual ripped skinny jeans and tees.
Plus Size Trucker Denim Jacket
I LOVE a denim jacket – I have also, quite literally, never owned a white denim jacket. This is a classic-cut jacket; I was unsure of what they meant when they described it as “trucker-style.” Upon arrival, I figured out they meant that this was a more classic, boxy fit with a longer-line to it. I have traditionally worn cropped jackets, so I knew this style would work great with skinny pants and slim silhouettes. The white denim is plush and thick and has plenty of stretch to it. Snag the jacket online here.
Plus Size Pinstripe Pants
I can’t tell you the last time I wore pants! Not jeans. Not leggings… pants. These crisp and classic pants are a very fine navy and white pinstripe and have a mid rise of nine and three-quarter inches. They come pre-cuffed (which I happen to like as it adds a cool and casual air to the style) with an average inseam of 26.5 inches. Note, that I stand five foot four and I did have to cuff them twice more to get them to sit at my ankles. #ShortGirlProblemsThese are a total straight cut; if you are looking for a curve-hugging style, these are not for you. But there is something very easy to wear about these pants that I don’t believe translates in pictures. They are so minimalist, they almost become a neutral tone! To me, this screams “pop of color” so I paired the pants and white denim jacket with a slouchy white tee and my favorite coral flats. Bring on the Spring! I’m ready for you! Cotton Gingham Off-Shoulder Dress
I’m a dress girl! I love dresses. Casual ones. Dressy ones. Everyday ones. But I have NEVER worn a gingham one before; when I saw this style, I knew I had to take it for a spin! This is the perfect summer dress for someone who is looking for a more modest style that is still feminine and lightweight without showing too much skin. Again, the dress fit me much longer than the model pictured online (yup, still short!) and I would have liked it to be a bit shorter to feel more playful.I also would have liked an elastic waistband to define my waist a bit more, based on my body shape. That being said, the off-shoulder is perfectly well-done; it didn’t wiggle up once while I wore it! The cut is a straight sheath-style and is begging for crisp white sneakers. You can find the dress for yourself online here. All in all, I had a great time stepping out of my comfort zone! I was struck by the quality of the pieces. It should be noted, that I regularly wear a size 18/20 and I did wear the pants in a size 22; the dress and jacket I wore in a size 2X. Tommy Hilfiger Plus Size is perfect for a plus woman who stands a bit taller and who appreciates a classic look with a nautical, Hamptons-esque vibe to it!What do you think? Would you take any of these styles for a spin? How would you make them your own? Chime in below and let me know!
