Bun it, pin it, win it... Go! - The Metal Bun Pin that Saves My Sanity Plus Giveaway
I stick things in my head.
Let me clarify. When it comes to getting my hair off my face, I will forage like an industrious beaver and stick whatever I can in a bun to make it work. The plastic green cup-hole-stoppers from Starbucks. Forks. Pencils. Despite having every purse, desk and drawer in my bathroom flooded with bobby pins, I can never seem to keep my hands on a suitable, legitimate hair-fastening device.
I love having long hair but sometimes I hate feeling it on my neck...
I love having long hair. I admit it. I can be a girly girl. I love products and curling wands and all that good stuff. But, on an everyday basis, I go for ease every time. I love having long hair but sometimes, I truly hate feeling it on the back of my neck. Or dropping down in front of my eyes. Weird, I know. When I was a teenager, someone taught me the expression "Sh*t Bun" which, as classy as it sounds, was basically looping your hair like a droopy Samurai so it flopped to the side. Not cute. Then, a few years ago, hair and makeup artist Brittany Sullivan changed my life when she showed me an easy way to wrap my hair into a stylish top knot. The only downside? It required bobby pins. She had an Altoids tin of pins with her at all times. So I became That Girl who always had pins floating around. Sometimes I'd even slide one onto my bra to make sure it didn't go astray. But who always has a pin on hand? So, I'd get creative, as evidence to the right shows.A few weeks go on Instagram I saw a plus model I follow wrapping her luscious locks into a top knot and sticking something metal in her head to keep it secure. My radar popped up. A dozen clicks later I found myself utterly, ridiculously in love... with Bun Pins.Four days later, I received a set in the mail... My hair has never been the same. To say I am in love would be an understatement. I. Literally. Am. In. Love. If I'm being truthful, I've used my Bun Pins pretty much every day since I got them.
Twist it. Stick it. And go!
These handmade, metal Bun Pins by CA Makes are a stupid easy way to give yourself an easy hairdo in seconds. I have tried and tested three of the pins. The Classic (a simple metal design that looks like a tuning fork), Le Loop (which reminds me of a big safety pin) and the Mini (a 3 inch version baby sister to The Classic, great for thinner hair or smaller buns) all in the brass finish. After playing for a few days my favorite design is The Classic. I love its clean, minimalist line. My next favorite is the mini, which works great for a half up/half down look or buns using less hair.So here's the scoop. I keep my pins in a small dish near my bed. So far, I have yet to lose one. Yeah! It's big enough that it won't go missing, and easy enough to throw in your bag when you want to take it with you.Last thing to note-- I have personally tried these handmade bun pins on three types of hair. In addition to mine, which is straight and thinner, I tried it on my roommate who has natural, African American hair. I also tried it on a friend who has super thick, jealousy-inspiring Indian hair. I included some pics of various braided looks I was able to do with her hair using nothing but the pin to secure it!In short, I am simply addicted. My love for the Bun Pin runs deep and true. Although don't tell my mom because she hates when I wear my hair in a top knot. Must be a generational thing....LOL.You can find all the Bun Pins at CA Makes website here: http://camakes.storenvy.com/
